A garden built for grandchildren

There’s something uniquely heartwarming about the sound of grandchildren playing in the garden — a mix of laughter, creativity, and boundless energy. For one devoted grandparent, that simple joy inspired a meaningful project: designing and building a bespoke timber playground in their own garden, made especially for their grandchildren.

The Vision

From the outset, the brief was clear. The client wanted to provide a variety of features suitable for grandchildren of different ages and ensure longevity, and low maintenance. 

Rather than opting for one of our standard climbing frames, the client chose a custom approach — something crafted with care, built to last, and tailored to their garden and family.

Design Highlights

Positioned on a spacious, well-maintained lawn, the finished playground includes:

• Play Tower & look out platforms designed to mimic a fort or castle — perfect for imaginative games.
• Climbing Wall & Rope Net: Two varied climbing options that challenge balance, coordination and build confidence.
• Wobble bridge: Connecting platforms that encourage exploration.
• Extended Swing beam: Space for two swings & a nest swing, easily replaceable as the children grow.
• Base-fort: An open space beneath the structure ideal for hide and seek.
• Traditional Timber Picnic Bench: Nearby seating for snack breaks, art activities, or simply watching the fun unfold.
